Use Sun Screen – Use a minimum SPF 15 daily year round. SPF 30 should be used when spending any amount of time out doors or if age spots or pigmentation is an issue. Sensitive skins prefer physical sunscreens like zinc oxides or titanium dioxide, which protect from both UVA and UVB rays. For skin that are not as sensitive, chemical sunscreens such as avobenzone work well to protect again both UVA and UVB rays. Full spectrum blocks are the best way to reduce damage and skin caner risk.
Apply Enough Sunscreen – Apply generous amount of sunscreen to all exposed skin. Those who skimp to preserve their products will not receive the full protection the product can provide. Apply 30 minute prior to going out doors and reapply every two hours after that.
Never too late to Start – Haven’t used sunscreen most of your life? Already seeing signs of damage? Don’t worry it is not too late for you. It is ideal to start young, although, studies show that using a good sunscreen routine even later in the game will help to slow and in some case repair damage. So start NOW and protect yourself from aging and skin cancer.
Antioxidants – Ingredients Like vitamins A,C, & E will help to enhance the protection your sunscreen can provide. These are not sun protection on their own they amplify the protection other chemical and physical sun screens naturally provide
Avoid Tanning – Lying in the sun or in a tanning bed will greatly increase your risk for skin damage and skin cancer. Instead, try self-tanning products to achieve a glow. Remember to find relief in the shade as often as possible especially between the hours of 10-4.
Cover Up – Use large sunglasses with wide sides to protect the delicate eye area. Wear a wide brimmed hat to shade both your face and neck. Why not use a beautiful sarong or bathing suit cover to add a stylish edge to your sun protection?
Watch For Reflections – Reflective surfaces like water, sand and snow will bounce the UV rays increasing exposure and chance for sun damage or skin cancer. All the more reason to reapply regularly.
